Cheap 9 Inch Nail Nippers with Plastic Grip Handles Review
I remember very clearly in the summer of 1998 hearing rumors that Trent Reznor was secretly collaborating with Pablo and Mitch from the UK hip hop-jazz fusion group Plastic Grip Handles. I knew there was a lot of mutual respect between the two bands, but what I DIDN'T know was, could they find enough common ground to actually make a solid LP? Well, the results speak for themselves. Song after song, industr-jazz-hop instrumental interlude after industr-jazz-hop instrumental interlude, this unique musical partnership creates moods and sonic landscapes that among the favorite works of fans of both bands. We must thank the heavens that a digital backup of the master tape somehow survived the massive fire that Trent, Pablo, and Mitch started in the studio immediately after mixing the album.
I agree 100% with all the points made in Amazon's review. I have found that cranking the Nine Inch Nails Feat. Plastic Grip Handle LP at the end of a long, hard day makes it much easier for me to get a grip, and I agree that Trent's industrial production touches conjure images of jaws made of steel blades that could probably slice through nails. In this fan's mind, PGH and NIN definitely cut through to something resembling the best album of the late '90s, bar none.
(BTW, I left off one star for the ridiculously literal attempt at a "joke" in the cover art department. Ha ha, we get it!)
